This is the first project that I am doing since I’ve made the transfer to Truman. I am a bit nervous in general because I do not know how things work here; like what is expected of me by the teacher, the level of the other students in the class, and the quality of work that the professor is expecting me to output. What this project entailed was going over a very poorly designed ad found on the school’s bulletin board and to make it better.  This project is also a group project which in general I’m not the biggest fan of, not because I’m scared of someone not pulling their weight but because I hate making decisions which sometimes I have to do in group projects. Though when Rusty said that each person was going to do their own poster/email/ad but sharing the same theme I felt a lot better. Now the only thing we had to agree on was a common theme. We decided to go with America needs great teachers, which was one of the many themes found in this ad. Each member in our group had to pick a format or style to make the ad in for instance an email, web manner, newspaper ad, poster, flyer, ect.  I am doing the poster for our group and from the get go I have an idea. I’m going to illustrate a slightly abstracted American flag. That way the flag will be noticeable, but it’s not going to be like, “bamb in your face flag.” Through the make out of this flag I couldn’t figure out how to make the flag in an abstract fashion so I just gave up and made a normal flag that was flowing in the wind. The process of making this was not that hard I was given a lot to work with or more like not a lot to work with so it was very easy to make it my own. I had a lot of space to manipulate. Though with that being said, I played it very safe with this project, I didn’t get that inventive or try very hard to do something cool. Also when my flag failed that didn’t motivate me either so I went with what I know with everything. I used Caviar Dreams as my header and Helvetica as my body copy. Our group had the same color scheme so my choice in color was made by the group as appose to be, though I don’t mind the color of choice. Overall all I don’t really care for this project but I don’t hate it either so life is fine.
